Mechanical mixing of polymer additive in turbulent drag reduction

Turbulent drag reduction induced by injection of polymer into pipe flow exhibits major changes with variations of the rotational speed of an upstream mixer. This is shown to unify the concepts of homogeneous and heterogeneous drag reduction.
