Charge exchange of a nucleon in the reaction (. pi. /sup -/,. pi. /sup -/p) in Ag and Br nuclei at 170 MeV

The (..pi../sup -/,..pi../sup -/p) reaction in the heavy component of nuclear emulsion (Ag and Br) is studied at a pion energy 170 MeV. Quantities determined are the integrated cross section for the reaction, angular distributions of the residual nuclei, protons, and scattered mesons, the energy spectrum of protons, and the momentum spectrum of the recoil nuclei. Experimental confirmation is obtained for the charge-exchange interaction of the nucleons in the final state.
