Semiannual report on strategic special nuclear material inventory differences

This twenty-third periodic semiannual report of unclassified Inventory Differences (ID's) covers the first six months of fiscal year 1988 (October 1, 1987 through March 31, 1988) for all key Department of Energy (DOE) and DOE contractor operated facilities possessing strategic special nuclear materials. Classified information is not included in this report. This classified information includes data for the Rocky Flats and Y-12 nuclear weapons production facilities or facilities under ID investigation. However, classified ID data from such facilities receive the same scrutiny and analyses as the included data. The data in this report have been prepared and reviewed by DOE contractors, field offices, and Headquarters. When necessary, special investigations have been performed in addition to these reviews. The ID data, explanations, reviews, and any additional special investigations, together with the absence of physical indications of any theft attempt, support a finding that no theft of diversion of significant quantities of strategic special nuclear material has occurred in DOE facilities during the six-month period covered by this report.
