Evaluation of analytical methods for measuring appendix 9 constituents in groundwater

This report summarizes the analytical requirements of EPA's rule on groundwater monitoring at permitted hazardous waste management facilities. This rule requires the analysis of groundwater for 222 constituents listed in Appendix IX of 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 264. The EPA recommended 40 different analytical laboratory procedures for measuring these constituents. This report also assesses the adequacy of the analytical methods, documents the performance of selected methods, provides insight into inconsistencies and contradictions between the regulation and the selected methods, and provides guidance on the implementation of the analytical requirements.
