DIRC, the internally reflecting ring imaging Cherenkov detector for BABAR: Properties of the quartz radiators
- Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Stanford, California 94309 (United States)
A description of DIRC, a particle identification detector for the BABAR experiment at the Standard Linear Collider B Factory is given. It is the barrel region of the detector and its name is an acronym for detection of internally reflected Cherenkov radiation. It is a Cherenkov ring imaging device which utilizes totally internally reflected Cherenkov light in the visible and ultraviolet regions. (AIP) {copyright} {ital 1998 American Institute of Physics.}
