The objective of Task IV is to obtain improved basic information for the design and operation of solar heating and cooling systems through better understanding of the required insolation and related weather data and through improved techniques for measurement and evaluation of such data. This objective is accomplished by: (1) the compilation of an insolation handbook, (2) development of design and performance specifications for an instrumentation package, and (3) participation in Expert Meetings. The specifications for the portable insolation instrumentation package have been completed and several participating countries are building a device in accordance with the specifications. Comparison testing of the units will be conducted in September 1978.
