This article reports Bernard S. Lee, President of the Institute of Gas Technology, calling for a more enlightened economic analysis of a future synfuels industry. He is convinced that the seemingly impossible goal of eventually reducing oil imports 4.5 million bbl per day through synthetic fuel production and conservation is achievable.
