Apparatus and method for raising and supporting a building
This patent describes an apparatus for raising and/or supporting the foundation or slab of a building, the apparatus comprising lifting arm means for engaging the lower surface of the foundation or slab, a retaining member engaging the lifting arm means and engaging the outer wall of the foundation or slab, means for securing the retaining member to the foundation or slab, pipe means extending adjacent the retaining member, driving means engaging the upper portion of the pipe means, ram means connected between the driving means and the lifting arm means, and means for actuating the ram means to drive the pipe means into the ground until the pipe means encounters a predetermined resistance, the actuating means adapted to further actuate the ram means after the predetermined resistance is encountered to raise and/or stabilize the foundation or slab. The retaining member maintains the lifting arm means in engagement with the lower surface during the actuation of the ram means.
