n+/sup 6/Li system investigated with the resonating-group method: Effects of channel coupling

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
Channel-coupling effects on the properties of the n+/sup 6/Li system are studied. The channels included are n+/sup 6/Li, n+/sup 6/Li(, and /sup 3/H+..cap alpha.. channels. The calculation shows that there exist S = (1/2), L = 0 and 1 resonance states in the n+/sup 6/Li continuum, in agreement with the result of a recent R-matrix study. In addition, it is found that the /sup 3/H+..cap alpha.. channel has a substantial influence, indicating that the energetically most-favored cluster configuration must always be considered in a resonating-group investigation. The coupling between n+/sup 6/Li and n+/sup 6/Li( channels turns out generally to be fairly weak, although it does become somewhat enhanced when the /sup 3/H+..cap alpha.. channel is included in the calculation.
