Exciplex formation and electron transfer in polychromophoric systems

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6522298
The rates of excited anthracene decay and intramolecular exciplex formation from bichromophoric molecules containing an anthryl group and an amine donor vary with the length of the chain link, the nature of the amine donor and the viscosity of the medium. The results indicate that the intramolecular exciplex formation may proceed via more than one pathway. Our recent experimental results suggest that electron transfer from the amino donor to the excited anthryl group may play a role in the exciplex formation in viscous alkanes.
