Possible presence of 2234 phase with T sub c (zero) of 95 K in a Bi-Pb-Sb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O ceramic

Samples of Bi{sub 1.84}Pb{sub 0.34}Sb{sub 0.1}Sr{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital y}} ceramic were prepared by a direct sintering and air quenching method. A new phase with {ital T}{sub {ital c}}(zero) of 95 K is detected inside multiphased samples by resistivity and susceptibility measurements. Powder x-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the structure is orthorhombic with cell parameters {ital a}=5.41 A, {ital b}=5.44 A, {ital c}=43.35 A. The (Bi, Pb){sub 2}Sr{sub 2}Ca{sub 3}Cu{sub 4}O{sub {ital y}} composition is determined by x-ray energy dispersion analysis.
