Electrical generating plant availability

The improvement of generating unit reliability and availability is discussed. Greater reliability can be attained, and the availability of facilities for power production can be improved, by concerted effort on the part of the electric utilities and those segments of industry and labor associated with the electric power industry. A list of actions leading toward improved availability is provided, together with a realistic appraisal of the time frame necessary.
