The second LAMPF II Workshop was held at the Los Alamos Study Center from July 19 to 22, 1982. More than two hundred scientists from more than fifty institutions participated. A broad range of physics topics was covered from nuclear chemistry to testing grand unified theories. Numerous ideas for experiments were discussed, and several proposals for new beam line technology were developed. This workshop clearly demonstrated the enthusiasm which exists for a major extension of the field of medium energy physics which would be made possible by a machine of the class of the proposed LAMPF II 16-GeV 100-..mu..A proton synchrotron.
