Low-energy electron-diffraction (LEED) measurements for a solid D[sub 2] bilayer physisorbed on graphite are used to investigate the bilayer structure and its azimuthal orientation relative to the substrate. The LEED spot positions are consistent with the mutually commensurate oblique unit cell inferred from neutron-diffraction measurement. Given the azimuthal orientation of the bilayer LEED spots, the possibility of a bilayer composed of two incommensurate layers with mutually modulated triangular lattices is ruled out.
