A high temperature battery cell is described comprising a helium-tight, inner assembly of a hollow fiber bundle, a single, generally columnar, ceramic tubesheet and an anode tank which is sealingly engaged with the tubesheet. The hollow fiber bundle comprises spaced apart, ceramic hollow fiber lengths having end portions compactly gathered together and potted in the tubesheet and passing-therethrough in sealing engagement. The anode tank defines a feed-through portion comprising a thin-walled collar into which an end portion of the tubesheet is inserted and the collar and the tubesheet each sealingly engaged with the same, generally sleeve-shaped, ceramic seal.
