The kinetic product from protonation of (({mu}-H)Ru{sub 3}({mu}-CO)(CO){sub 10}){sup {minus}} with CF{sub 3}SO{sub 3}H is ({mu}-H)Ru{sub 3}({mu}COH)(CO){sub 10}. This product rearranges to H({mu}-H)Ru{sub 3}(CO){sub 11} within 20 s at 25{degree}C. Alternatively, H({mu}-H)Ru{sub 3}(CO){sub 11} is the only product formed by protonation with CF{sub 3}CO{sub 2}H. Products were characterized by {sup 1}H NMR spectroscopy at low temperatures and by FT-IR spectroscopy at ambient temperature.
