Solar-central-receiver hybrid power system

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6517979
A 12 month Phase I program is planned to develop solar/fossil hybrid power plant design for commercial application (100 MWe). The hybrid system proposed for study consists of solar central receiver utilizing molten salt as a receiver heat transfer and thermal energy storage medium and a fossil fired salt heater or steam boiler to supply power when the solar portion of the plant is unavailable (nights, cloudy days, repairs, etc.). Included in this management plan is a description of effort involved in the Phase I study. The project is described in detail by work tasks, and the project organization is defined. The technical approach to developing a cost competitive hybrid power system is described. The method of management and control for this contract is listed. The contract work breakdown structure is presented and a program schedule is included. (LEW)
