The purposes of this memorandum are: (1) to transmit revised guidance on Environmental Protection Agency policy on the relationship between air quality planning and the state and areawide water quality management (WQM) program, and (2) to identify air quality-related activities eligible for funding under section 208. This memorandum and the attached guidance document, 'Procedures for Coordination between Air Quality Planning and the State and Areawide Water Quality Management Program,' revise and expand upon previous guidance signed by John Quarles on September 22, 1975 (issued as water quality management guidance SAM-8).
