Frequency stabilization of a 612 nm He-Ne laser in a transverse magnetic field

A simple and versatile frequency stabilization of a 612 nm He-Ne laser in a transverse magnetic field by the beat frequency stabilization method has been presented. The characteristic magnetic field was 250 G and the width of the single-mode region was approximately 220 MHz. The obtained frequency stability ({Delta}{ital f}/{ital f} ) was 5{times}10{sup {minus}9} over a 1 h period.
