Energy recovery from refuse incineration

Book ·
OSTI ID:6514755
A number of trends in recent years have combined to make recovery of useful energy from refuse into a viable proposition. Energy Recovery from Refuse Incineration is based on an Institution of Mechanical Engineers seminar. It discusses materials handling, combustion methods, energy production and power generation, environmental considerations, the commercial aspects and experience with existing installations. Topics considered include design, construction, and first five years operation of a municipal waste incinerator with energy recovery at Jersey, Channel Islands; economic incentives for recovering energy from refuse; operational performance of waste-to-energy plants; energy recovery from refuse incineration in the NHS; producing steam from the combustion of solid waste; experience with steam and power generation from municipal waste; and how good design and operation reaped benefits on UK refuse incineration over the last ten years.
