Guide to world coal markets. [Survey of 15 countries]

Book ·
OSTI ID:6514674
The book's principal objective is to identify the major buyers and end users in the world coal market; examine their coal-buying plans in terms of quantity, quality and purchasing practices, and indicate how to contact them. To put these buyers into proper perspective, the author also looks at the coal-demand trends of 15 countries and major end-user sectors; but he does not attempt to make independent predictions of future coal demand either on a national, sectoral, or specific end-user basis. Specific figures given for future coal demand usually come from government (ministry of the country) or government-related source, such as the International Energy Agency. Efforts are made to point out when these predictions conflict with other authoritative sources. Predictions of coal demand by specific end users such as a utility or steel company come from the end users themselves. The author attempted to gather as much primary information as possible through a detailed survey conducted by Coal Outlook newsletter of the end users themselves. This exclusive survey was sent to thousands of utilities, industrial manufacturers and coal traders throughout the world. Other sources include government reports, studies, publications, newsletters, government trade data and other secondary literature.
