Infrared spectra (800-130 cm/sup -1/) of the mixed-metal and mixed-valence complexes (Fe/sub 2//sup III/M/sup II/O(OOCCH/sub 3/)/sub 6/L/sub 3/) (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni; L = H/sub 2/O, pyridine), and Raman spectra of the aquo-adducts, are reported and assigned by using a variety of isotopic substitutions. It is concluded that in the mixed-valence complexes (M = Fe) the oxidation states are partially localized on the vibrational time scale.
