Einstein--Maxwell--massless-scalar fields

In a recent paper a set of equations was obtained for Einstein--Maxwell--massless-scalar fields with the Einstein-Rosen metric. This note simplifies those equations and indicates how solutions to those equations could be obtained from the known solutions of source-free axially symmetric gravitational fields.
