A model for the circulating fluidized bed

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6507306

A model for circulating fluidized bed (CFB) hydrodynamics is proposed. This model combines existing entrainment and bed expansion correlations with a system pressure balance in order to predict, from a knowledge of powder properties, gas velocity and equipment parameters, the distribution of solids with the CFB and the axial solids fraction variation within the riser. The model successfully predicts observed trends in variation of riser solids fraction profile with gas velocity and solids circulation flux.
