Hyperfine splittings and isotope shifts in eight transitions from the metastable 4 p sup 5 5 s J =2 and J =0 states of Kr I

We report isotope shifts for eight transitions in Kr I for all the stable isotopes and hyperfine constants for the 1{ital s}{sub 5}, 2{ital p}{sub 9}, 2{ital p}{sub 8}, 2{ital p}{sub 7}, 2{ital p}{sub 6}, 2{ital p}{sub 4}, 2{ital p}{sub 3}, 3{ital p}{sub 9}, and 4{ital d}{sub 4}{sup {prime}} states in {sup 83}Kr. We used continuous-wave single-frequency lasers to perform resonance ionization on an atomic beam of krypton atoms in the metastable 1{ital s}{sub 5} and 1{ital s}{sub 3} states of the 4{ital p}{sup 5} 5{ital s} configuration. Our results agree well with previous work and with calculations of the hyperfine constants for {sup 83}Kr in the 4{ital p}{sup 5} 5{ital p} states.
