Review of control strategies for ozone and their effects on other environmental issues

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6503911
The review summarizes theoretical, experimental, field and modeling data related to effects of reducing volatile organic compounds (VOC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) or both for meeting the ambient air-quality standard for ozone (O/sub 3/). Implications are reviewed for several environmental concerns. These include O/sub 3/ levels within and immediately downwind of major sources of precursors (i.e., cities), O/sub 3/ concentrations in rural/remote areas, ambient levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO/sub 2/), acidic species formation, and visibility attenuation.
