According to the table, 89.5 percent of the world coal resources are held by: the USSR, 53%; USA, 27.1%; and China, 9.4%. South America, Africa perhaps excepting South Africa (0.4%)), southern Europe and southern Asia (except for 0.8% in India) are quite deficient in resources. The Federal Republic of Germany (2.7%), Australia (1.9%), United Kingdom (1.5%) and Canada (1%) have the major part of the resources not held by the USSR, USA, or China. (LTN)
