Inductive interference of overhead power lines with cathodically-protected pipelines

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6500589
This paper discusses the principles of inductive interference of overhead power lines with pipelines both under normal operating conditions and under fault conditions and reviews the pipeline and power transmission line data required for the computerized prediction of induced voltages. It also presents the precautions which must be taken if the induced potential is too high. The concluding section shows that measured voltages are in good agreement with the induced voltages predicted by computer if all necessary data are available for the calculation.
