Modes of operation of dc separately excited motor fed by 3-phase fully controlled converter under motoring and regeneration have been identified. Any analysis must account for these modes of operation. Normalized nomograms are developed for calculating an optimum value of filter inductance for any 3-phase fully controlled converter fed dc separately excited motor.
