This article describes changes made to the standard two-valve-per-cylinder naturally aspirated prechamber engine series produced by Mercedes-Benz since 1983. These changes to valves, prechamber location and intake systems improve torque and allow this diesel engine to be sold in all of the US. Topics of the article include improving air charge, emission behavior, fuel-heating system, and intake system.
