The mutual-friction parameters for axisymmetric continuous vortices in the [ital A] phase at low temperatures are calculated on the basis of microscopic BCS theory for nonstationary processes. The parameters depend on the ratio of the distance between the energy levels of quasiparticles localized in the vortex, [omega][sub 0], and the relaxation rate of these quasiparticles, 1/[tau]. The transition from viscous to dissipationless flow of vortices occurs when [omega][sub 0][tau][similar to]1, the corresponding temperatures being well below [ital T][sub [ital c]]. From the viscosity coefficient, we estimate the effective cross section of the continuous vortex and its mass. We show that, with the continuous vortex, one can associate a normal region with a radius of order [ital R]([ital T]/[ital T][sub [ital c]]), [ital R] being the size of the vortex. The effect of mutual friction on the vortex eigenmodes is discussed.
