Short-rotation woody crops as a source of energy

Progress in the Short-Rotation Woody Crops Program to date is discussed. Results from the 30 research projects currently in the program, as well as from other published short-rotation intensive culture (SRIC) data are drawn on. The possible contribution of eahc major research topic to increased SRIC productivity is assessed. Current and projected SRIC productivity rates across the United States are shown on maps, and the research needed to reach the project levels is explained. (MHR)
