Generating methane gas from swine manure

Anaerobic digestion of swine manure is feasible. Digesters have been built and are in commercial operation. The bacteria required for conversion of the manure to methane are present in swine manure and with proper management will consistently produce methane gas. At present, the gas is most efficiently utilized in an internal combustion engine for production of thermal and electrical energy. 30 refs.
