Linde will build two units for Tennessee Eastman's Kingsport plant

Bechtel Inc., general contractor for Tennessee Eastman Co.'s Kingsport, Tenn., methanol and acetic anhydride from coal plant has awarded Linde A.G., through its U.S. subsidiary, Lotepro Corp., a contract for two units in the project. One unit will extract sulfur compounds and carbon dioxide from the coal gasifier effluent via the Rectisol process, and the other unit will use low temperatures to fractionate hydrogen and carbon monoxide from the gas downstream of the Rectisol unit. Both units are scheduled to start up in 1983.
