Electrochemical synthesis of polypyrrole films containing TiO sub 2 power particles

Electrochemical synthesis of polypyrrole with incorporated TiO{sub 2} hs been undertaken by electrolysis of pyrrole in the presence of illuminated TiO{sub 2} in ethanol and by electrolysis of pyrrole in the presence of aqueous TiO{sub 2} suspensions containing a small amount of electrolyte anions. Successful results have been obtained for electrolysis in the presence of a small amount of electrolyte anions such as SO{sub 4}{sup 2 {minus}} and I{sup {minus}} which specifically adsorb onto TiO{sub 2} particle surfaces. The resulting polypyrrole films exhibited photosensitivities due to the incorporated TiO{sub 2}.
