We have calculated the one-loop (..cap alpha..G/sub F/) corrections to the (G/sub F/) lowest-order parity-violating electron-proton potential at low q/sup 2/ (LOE) near sin/sup 2/theta/sub w/ = .23. There are 133 Feynman diagrams in the (standard) Weinberg-Salam theory of electro-weak interactions with one doublet of Higgs' and 3 generations of quarks and leptons. We neglect strong interaction effects inside the proton. Our renormalization procedure is gauge invariant and we find many corrections to the LOE unconsidered by previous authors which are as large or larger than the ones that can be found in the literature. In the end there are many cancellations and the results (to 3% accuracy) are; (i) box diagrams with one Z and an A (photon) give approx.27% correction to C/sub 2P/ for sin/sup 2/theta/sub w/ = .23, (ii) a Z-A mixing counterterm correction which blows up logarithmically for large Higgs' mass M/sub H/ gives approx.37% correction to both C/sub 1P/ and C/sub 2P/ for M/sub H/ = 100 TeV and sin/sup 2/theta/sub w/ = .23, (iii) the 'large log' corrections and 'box graphs with 2 heavy bosons' cancel with previously unconsidered contributions which turn out to be quite large. The sum of all contributions besides (i) and (ii) is negligible. As a check on our results, we calculate many counterterm parameters and Green's functions rather than just matrix elements. We use the Ward identities which come from the fundamental SU(2)/sub L/ X U(1) symmetry of the theory to check the correctness of this very long calculation.
