During the last fifteen years theoretical research on the evolution of the universe has undergone considerable change and development. The main achievements are connected with the development of inflationary cosmology and the theory of phase transitions, which theoretically occurred very early in the history of the universe in accordance with the unified theories of weak, strong and electromagnetic interactions. This new cosmological paradigm is free from the main difficulties of the Big Bang theory and leads to an entirely different view of the evolution of the universe, its global structure and our place within it. This volume is a monograph on inflationary cosmology and cosmological phase transitions. The author offers a thorough investigation of modern cosmology and its relation to elementary particle physics. This book also includes a section containing a discussion of inflationary cosmology.
