This paper shows how all high-temperature pipe is insulated. The minimum insulation generally provides for personnel protection with an external surface temperature requirement of about 140/degree/F (60/degree/C) or less. Piping insulation is available in increments of /one-half/-in. (13 mm). Each increment should save sufficient energy to produce an acceptable rate of return on the investment of capital to pay for its installation. 11 refs.
