Lasing power of dye lasers under radially nonuniform lamp pumping

The distribution of excitation density is computed for nonuniform radial lamp pumping of active rhodamine 6G solutions through a liquid light filer. It is shown that application of the calculation to the quantum lasing power leads to good agreement between experimental and computed values of this quantity for rhodamine 6G concentrations from 10/sup -5/M to (3--4) x 10/sup -5/M. Further increase in concentration requires the consideration of specific factors that appear under conditions of nonuniform pumping of the active medium.
