Economic effect on agricultural production of alternative energy input prices: Texas high plains. Technical report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6483179
Short-run effects of rising energy prices on agricultural production were evaluated through mathematical linear programming; results are measured by demand schedules, net revenue adjustments, cropping pattern shifts, and changes in agricultural output. Only variable costs were used in constructing the objective function. Demand schedules were estimated and crop enterprise budgets were adapted. The completed model was applied to 16 input/product price combinations feasible in the short-run future.
