Process of complete cryogenic vaporization of liquefied natural gas

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6479583
Showa Denko K.K.'s new approach provides complete cryogenic vaporization of LNG without freeze-out of higher hydrocarbons when utilizing the LNG as a cryogen for cryogenic heat-exchange processes at a high efficiency. The LNG is vaporized by a 1st vaporization step at a temperature lower than -166/sup 0/F until the nonvaporized residue of the LNG becomes a predetermined amount higher than a critical percentage with respect to the initial weight of the LNG at which critical percentage higher hydrocarbons in the residual LNG are frozen out, but not higher than 8% above the critical percentage. The residual LNG is separated from the first-vaporized natural gas. After the latter is conditioned to a temperature of -148 to -40/sup 0/F, the separated residual LNG is vaporized in a 2nd vaporization step by introducing it into a flow of the conditioned first-vaporized natural gas.
