Overview of socioeconomic and environmental studies of geothermal development in the Imperial Valley

Conference · · Geol. Soc. Am. Geol.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6479102
An overview of socioeconomic and environmental studies of geothermal development in the Imperial Valley indicates that the research methods and results can be transferred to other prospective geothermal sites, such as those in initial development stages in New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and other parts of California, but only to a limited extent because many socioeconomic-environmental effects are tied to the area of the geothermal field, i.e., geothermal resources have very limited portability. Up to now, the Imperial County studies have suffered from the weakness of lack of on-line geothermal power generation capacity.
