Different sulfur containing compounds, including sulfides, sulfates, thiocyanates, xanthates, thio alcohols, sulfones, and heterocyclic sulfur-containing compounds, were used as catalysts of the reaction. The catalysts were loaded into the reactor in quantities corresponding to a constant number of g-atoms of sulfur (0.25) with respect to the nitrobenzene used. Data reported the efficiency of sulfur compounds which are the salt of different sulfur-containing acids which were determined by the character of both the cationic and the anionic part of the catalyst. The carbonylation of nitrobenzene by carbon monoxide in methanol in the presence of organic derivatives of sulfur is examined.
