Engineer's perspective on equipment warranties

In simplest terms, a warranty in connection with the sale of equipment is a promise by the seller that the equipment will meet all the requirements of the contract, and will not be defective for a stated period of time. There are, however, different types of warranties and different degrees of obligation. Several types are discussed in relation to the purchase of equipment for hydroelectric plants.
