2b, helium generation in reactor materials. Irradiation effects. [LMFBR]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6477085
The objectives of this task are to: (1) develop and demonstrate the use of several pure elements and/or alloys as reliable fast reactor helium generation fluence monitors; (2) determine which elements in FTR, LMFBR and advanced alloys are principally responsible for the helium production, so that their use might be eliminated, minimized or controlled: (3) determine the spectrum integrated helium production cross sections of numerous pure elements in a variety of fast reactor neutron spectra; and (4) use this information to predict with confidence, the helium production rate for any alloy or material considered for fast reactor use.
