Mutual-correlation function of laser radiation transmitted by a multimode fiber lightguide

The influence of the mode composition of the laser radiation and the decomposition of the light excited in the lightguide on the mutual-correlation function of the reference radiation and the lightguide-transmitted radiation were examined. Experiments were conducted to measure the modulus of the complex degree of mutual coherence at a multimode step lightguide of length up to 500 m. The visibility of the interference pattern was measured and the modulus of the complex degree of coherence was determined from its known relation to the viscosity.
