Stabilized continuous CO/sub 2/ laser that is tunable over lines of five bands

A simple stabilized continuous CO/sub 2/ laser is described that is tunable over 174 vibrational-rotational lines of bands 00/sup 0/1-10/sup 0/0(02/sup 0/0), 00/sup 0/2-10/sup 0/1(02/sup 0/1), and 01/sup 1/1-11/sup 1/0 in the wavelength range of 9.2-11.1 ..mu..m. The output powers at the strongest lines are approx.3.5 W for the 00/sup 0/1-10/sup 0/0(02/sup 0/0) band, approx.0.7 W for the 00/sup 0/2-10/sup 0/1(02/sup 0/1) band, and approx.0.35 W for the 01/sup 1/1-11/sup 1/0 band.
