Torus-orbifold equivalence in compactified string theories

It is shown that any compactified closed string theory on an abelian orbifold is equivalent to that on a torus if the rank of the gauge symmetry of strings on the orbifold is equal to the dimension of the orbifold. The authors proof clarifies the correspondence operators as well as states between the two theories.
