[sup 100]Sn-daughter [alpha]-nuclei cluster decays of some neutron-deficient Xe to Gd parents: Sn radioactivity

Cluster-decays of the neutron-deficient [sup 108[minus]116]Xe, [sup 112[minus]120]Ba, [sup 116[minus]124]Ce, [sup 120[minus]124]Nd, [sup 124[minus]128]Sm, and [sup 128[minus]132]Gd parents are studied within the preformed cluster model of Malik and Gupta. The calculated preformation probabilities ([ital P][sub 0]) and decay half-lives show that the [alpha]-nuclei ([ital A][sub 2]=4[ital n], [ital Z][sub 2]=[ital N][sub 2]) clusters, like [sup 8]Be, [sup 12]C, [sup 16]O, [sup 20]Ne, [sup 24]Mg, and [sup 28]Si, emitted form [ital N]=[ital Z] parents are the most probable cases for measurements. Many of these clusters are shown to be within the upper limit of present experimental methods. This stresses the importance of [sup 1][sub 50][sup 00] Sn-daughter in these decays. The fact that [ital A][sub 2]=4[ital n] cluster-decays are more probable than [ital A][sub 2]=4[ital n]+2 clusters demonstrates that Sn radioactivity is associated with [ital A][sub 2]=4[ital n], [ital Z][sub 2]=[ital N][sub 2] ([alpha]-nuclei) clusters. Structure effects of the nuclear (proximity) potential and binding energies (the shell effects) in [ital GN] plots are in variation of [ital P][sub 0] with the parent mass [ital A] are also pointed out.
