Carbonate reservoir description

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6472152
This paper describes, in very general terms, the geometry, depositional environment and porosity characteristics of various carbonate facies and the diagenetic influences that can modify the original textures and alter the reservoir quality. To relate these principles to real cases, six typical Canada oil and gas pools are described and schematicaly illustrated. Two additional Canadian pools, the Golden Spike and Judy Creek reef reservoirs, are described in detail to illustrate how integrated geological-engineering studies can lead to better understanding of reservoir behavior and to changes in operating practices. 36 refs.
